The Nagole-Mettuguda route of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) is expected to be inaugurated on Ugadi next year. NVS Reddy, MD, HMR inspected the areas around Nagole and Uppal on Friday and instructed designers and traffic planners to complete design solutions for pedestrian walkways and carriageway within two weeks.

The Nagole-Mettuguda route of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) is expected to be inaugurated on Ugadi next year. NVS Reddy, MD, HMR inspected the areas around Nagole and Uppal on Friday and instructed designers and traffic planners to complete design solutions for pedestrian walkways and carriageway within two weeks. The walkways and carriageway would be developed from the feeder services area by creating separate service lanes on both sides of the station.

Bus bays, auto bays and parking lots for private vehicles would be created in the service lane, with placement of bus-bays nearer to entry/exit points of metro stations. Access to lifts, escalators and staircases, including barrier-free access for physically disabled persons, are being planned.

The HMR is also planning to install benches, chairs, dustbins, bus shelters. Bicycle stations would be built at Metro stations and the junctions near the stations would have traffic islands, cobble-stoned speed reducers. Senior engineers and town planners of HMR, Concessionaire L&TMRHL, the traffic police and traffic experts of Infotrans Engineers Pvt. Ltd were also present during the inspection.
