Hyderabad: Housing Minister Indrakaran Reddy on Thursday stated that the flagship ‘Two bedroom houses for poor’ scheme would commence only after the completion of 8.2 lakh pending houses which were sanctioned by the earlier government. After a review meeting with the officials of the Housing Department at the Secretariat here, the Minister, said that the houses were sanctioned as part of the Indiramma Housing scheme.

As such, it is not possible to change their plans and construct two bedroom houses. The Telangana government wants to complete these houses first and later take up its own housing scheme, the Minister said. Taking note of the irregularities in the housing scheme, the Minister warned of strict action against the culprits in the scam. He stated that all problems and bottlenecks in the Housing Department would be addressed at the earliest.
