Hyderabad: With an eye on GHMC elections, the TS government is making all-out efforts to appease various sections of society. A day after the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that New Year Day would be a public holiday and that the government would also construct a Christian Bhavan which would cost about Rs 10 crore, the state cabinet ratified the decisions of the Chief Minister.

Official sources said the government would now issue GOs announcing public holiday on January 1 by Saturday. However, it was decided that government employees should have to compensate it by working on Second Saturday. The cabinet also ratified the proposal to set up ‘Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences at Warangal.

The Cabinet also gave its green signal for the Act for registration of marriages in Village Panchayats Government has also decided to construct a BC Bhavan to be named after Jyothirao Phule. It would be built with a cost of Rs 10 crore in 5 acres of land in city. An announcement regarding this will be made soon.

Among other decisions taken in the meeting, Telangana government has decided to bring in an Ordinance for appointment of parliament secretaries. This decision was taken to avoid any sort of legal tangles in future. This system is in practice in Karnataka and Rao decided to implement the same to appease party loyalists who missed out on cabinet berths.

Jalagam Venkat Rao, V Srinivas Goud, Kova Lakshmi and D Vinay Bhaskar have been named as parliament secretaries. With Chief Minister announcing that four to six parliament secretary posts to be filled, induction of Dalit names is not ruled out.
