Mega tax reform bill tabled in Lok Sabha

The government on Friday initiated legislation for the much-awaited reform of the indirect tax system by tabling the GST Bill in the Lok Sabha. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley described it as the single most important tax reform since 1947, he said the bill will be taken up for discussion in the next session of parliament.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley described it as the single most important tax reform since 1947, he said the bill will be taken up for discussion in the next session of parliament. The proposed tax reform would be a "win-win" situation for both state and central governments, he added. Introduction of the GST is considered a big positive step as it will resolve many supply chain issues which impact most the sunrise e-commerce sector.
