Hyderabad: A 57-year-old man was killed while his wife and son were severely injured when an RTC bus collided head-on with the car in which they were travelling on RK Puram flyover under Neredmet police station limits on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as VK Sharma, 57, a resident of ECIL. V Sri Nagesh (27) and V Lakshmi (50) who sustained severe injuries were immediately shifted to a hospital and reported to be under treatment.

Police sources said the trio was on their way home after dropping their elder son at RGIA. As they reached RK Puram flyover around 7.40 am, an RTC bus (AP 11 Z 2970) belonging to Hakimpet bus depot rammed into the car (AP 29 AK 6070). “The driver of the bus lost control while trying to avoid hitting another vehicle and crashed against the car,” sub inspector D Praveen Kumar said. Death was instant for VK Sharma. The accident led to a traffic jam on the flyover. It eased only after the mangled car was towed away. A case has been registered under Section 304 A and 337 of the IPC.
