The Telangana government on Thursday launched the supply of food cooked with superfine rice to students of the Social Welfare hostels across the State. Ministers T Harish Rao, Etala Rajender, Tummala Nageswara Rao besides Government Chief Whip Koppula Eshwar inaugurated the scheme.

Rao launched the facility in Gajwel, Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao’s constituency.

Jammikunta: Rajender launched the scheme in Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Model Schools at Kamalapur mandal headquarters in Huzurabad Assembly constituency. He warned officials of severe action if they resort to irregularities in rice supply. Later, he cut a cake as part of the New Year celebrations.

Khammam: Nageswara Rao sought people’s cooperation for effective implementation of welfare schemes, while inaugurating distribution of rice to food security card holders at Cotton Market Yard in Enkoor mandal headquarters. “Chief Minister KCR is making efforts to ensure Telangana occupies number one position in development in the next four-and-a-half-years,” he said. The Minister assured the people of placing Khammam district in number one position.

He pointed out that KCR had given him a place in the Cabinet even though he lost the election as he always stood by the people. Dharmapuri: Local MLA Eshwar launched the scheme at Government Gurukul School for Girls in Nandi Medaram village. He said the Government was going ahead with the programme even though there was an additional burden of Rs 11 for a kg of superfine rice. He stated that only 15 eggs were given to pregnant women for 30 days at Anganwadi centres by the previous governments. “Now 30 eggs are being on 30 days.”

Tandur (Ranga Reddy): Quality food will be provided in the Social Welfare hostels in Ranga Reddy district, said Peddamul MPTC Vidyasagar and Sarpanch Padmamma here on Thursday. They were speaking after launching the quality food scheme with fine rice at Peddamul BC Boys Hostel.

Vidyasagar advised students to study well with discipline so that they could occupy high posts after studies. While praising the provision of fine rice in hostels, he urged wardens to be on guard against any irregularity in the supply. The two launched the food scheme in the Kasturba Gandhi schools in Tandur, Peddamul and Bashirabad. MEO Shivakumar, SOs G Bhavani, Sumitra, Rajeshwari and Congress leaders Pentamma and D Venkatesh were present. Tahsildar Premkumar and MPP Vanisri launched the supply of six kg rice scheme to white ration cardholders.
