4,000 flautists, 1 gigantic concert
The banks of the River Godavari flowing through the historical city of Nashik will witness a unique symphony titled Venunaad on January 12. 4,000 flautists will simultaneously perform on a 30,000 sq. ft stage. Artists from every age-group and every segment of society will perform along with renowned flautist Pt. Ronu Mazumdar,
The banks of the River Godavari flowing through the historical city of Nashik will witness a unique symphony titled Venunaad on January 12. 4,000 flautists will simultaneously perform on a 30,000 sq. ft stage. Artists from every age-group and every segment of society will perform along with renowned flautist Pt. Ronu Mazumdar, while the revered exponent of the instrument Hariprasad Chaurasia will be the guest of honour.
The symphony is one of two major events to mark the two-day visit of The Art of Living founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, to Maharashtra. The event is expected to draw 5 lakh people and will be webcast to over 75 countries. Sri Sri said, “Spirituality and music together can uplift people. Get them out of depression and help them start a new life. For a stress-free life, you have to embrace both spirituality and music.”
Venunaad is the latest in a symphony-series hosted by The Art of Living. The organisation had previously organised Naadha Vaibhavam, where 5,000 Carnatic musicians performed in unison in Chennai; Antarnaad, where 2,750 Hindustani vocalists performed in Pune; Brahm Naad, a concert by 1,094 sitar artistes from across the country in New Delhi. During his tour, Sri Sri will also lead a meditation event, ‘We Chant with Sri Sri’, which will be held as a precursor on January 11. About 3 million people will join in the event.
