Hyderabad: In a major development, Telangana government has ordered a CID probe into reported irregularities in availing Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for medical treatment. According to highly-placed sources, an amount to the tune of Rs 50 crore has been looted by producing fake medical bills.

Of the 7,000-odd bills cleared since June 2, officials suspect at least 20 per cent of the bills were misused. It is learnt that most of them bills were availed from Nalgonda, Khammam, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy addresses. Sources stated that false bills were produced on names of patients who were neither admitted in hospital nor given treatment. Initially, the needle of suspicion points staff dealing the CMRF department. But, it was found that they did not have in role.
