Kadiam Srihari assumes charge as Education Minister

Hyderabad: Newly appointed Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiam Srihari said modalities would be formulated soon for implementation of KG to PG free education in the State. “A meeting will be held with the intellectuals, academic experts, stakeholders, teachers and others to formulate modalities,” he told reporters after assuming charge as Education Minister at Secretariat here on Friday.

The Deputy Chief Minister indicated that education in the State would go in for a thorough overhaul to prioritise the schemes basing on promises given by the Chief Minister. He further said he would make efforts to address the challenges in the Education Department. “Earlier, four ministers handled four different areas in education ministry, i.e. school education, secondary education, higher education and technical education,” he pointed out.

Now the new State has many challenges and these would be resolved after holding consultations with the Chief Minister,” he informed. Srihari said efforts would be made to turn Telangana into a model State in the field of education. He stressed need for working in coordination with AP government on issues like EAMCET and other CETs. The Deputy Chief Minister said that a key decision on DSC would be taken soon.

Srihari thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for giving him the education portfolio. He said that he would not allow any room for corruption and strive hard to bring good name for his department. The Deputy Chief Minister recalled that the TRS had promised free quality education for children. The government would certainly implement the promise, he said. A large number of TRS party activists and MSF workers thronged the Education Minister’s Chamber to greet him on the occasion.

Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy, Higher Education Principal Secretary Ranjeev R Acharya, Commissioner of Technical Education and Collegiate Education A Vani Prasad, Commissioner of School Education T Chiranjeevulu and Board of Intermediate Education Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer greeted the new Deputy Chief Minister.
