The police arrested five persons at Boyapalli village of Rayachoti mandal and seized 27 red sanders logs and a two-wheeler from their possession on Monday. Despite special measures being taken to prevent red sanders smuggling, the culprits managed to give the slip to the police and crossed several check-posts in the towns.

Despite special measures being taken to prevent red sanders smuggling, the culprits managed to give the slip to the police and crossed several check-posts in the towns.
Rayachoti (urban) Circle Inspector Mohan Prasad told the media here that the smugglers unloaded the red sanders logs and kept them beside the road as the vehicle developed some trouble. Meanwhile, the villagers, who grew suspicious, alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and nabbed the smugglers.
