Hyderabad: The senior Congress leader and MP, V Hanumantha Rao, slammed the NDA government for failing to grant special category status to AP.

Speaking to media persons on Assembly premises here, he criticised the Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for his failure to impress upon the Union government the need to fulfil the promise made by the government on the floor of Rajya Sabha during the date on AP Reorganisation Bill. He recalled as to how the BJP leader hailing from AP contested the UPA government’s stand, when it had promised to provide five years of special status during debate. “When the AP Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu approached him, the same leader who championed for special status is now saying that it cannot be implemented on technical grounds,” said Rajya Sabha MP.

He said the NDA government had lost interest in recovering black money stashed away in Swiss Bank accounts.

The Modi government had failed to keep all the promises.

The Congress MP, who undertook a day’s hunger strike on Saturday to protest against the government weakening the agitation against land acquisition, said the Congress would fight on behalf of farmers.
