As KCR treats TRS win as prestigious issue, leaders muster support in districts

Hyderabad : The biennial elections to the Telangana Legislative Council from two graduate constituencies, to be held on March 22 has brought the administration to a grinding halt in many departments in the Secretariat as the ministers are camping in the poll bound districts to ensure the victory of TRS candidates.

Considering the election as a prestigious one, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has asked all the ministers from the districts covered under the graduate conastituencies to take up intensive campaign.He made it clear that it would be the responsibility of these ministers to ensure the victory of the party candidates.

TRS has fielded TNGO president G Devi Prasad from the Mahbubnagar- Hyderabad- Ranga Reddy graduates constituency and party senior leader Palla Rajeshwar Reddy from the Warangal- Nalgonda- Khammam constituency.State Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy has been asked to stay in his native Nalgonda district till March 7 when the budget session would commence.

He was busy holding meetings with mandal and district-level leaders to consolidate voters. The minister is also said to be calling the voters on phone and requested them to support the TRS.Sources said the Power Minister had to skip two meetings conducted by the Energy department to discuss the budget proposals for the 2015-16 budget.

Some files regarding the release of funds and promotions in the in the department were also kept pending for past few days.Road and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao has been entrusted to consolidate the vote bank for TRS in his Khammam district.

A head of the elections, he was regularly participating in the party joining programmes by the TDP and Congress leaders in the district. Rao would not take part in the meetings organised by the R and B department in the next one week.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister K Srihari is already attending the meetings organised by the TRS in his Warangal and other districts. He has postponed all the meetings including on KG to PG scheme owing to his busy schedule in the districts.

He attended the nomination filing by Rajeshwar Reddy in Nalgonda on Wednesday. From Mahbubnagar district, Major Industries Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao and Health minister G Laxma Reddy have also been keeping away from the office for the past one week. They even skipped the meetings conducted by Finance department to finalise the budget proposals.

Commercial Taxes Minister T Srinivasa Yadav and Excise Minister T Padma Rao from Hyderabad and Transport Minister P Mahendar Reddy from Ranga Reddy district were also not available in their offices in the Secretariat. They were attending the meetings conducted by KCR to discuss the poll strategy.
