Collector says no to date extension

Hyderabad district Collector K Nirmala on Friday said that the government would not be extending the date for regularising residential houses constructed in above125 square yards in government lands at any cost. The deadline for the Land Regularization Scheme (LRS) mentioned in GO No. 59, was February 28.

Nirmala said, “This is a one time opportunity and a last chance to the people to regularie encroached lands. However, the encroachments should have occurred before June 2, 2014, the date on which the Telangana State was formed.” “So far 64,288 applications were received in the below poverty line (BPL) category and 395 applications in the above poverty line (APL) category.

The response is good for the BPL category as there is no fee to be paid. The APL category however has seen less number of applications. Perhaps they are under the illusion that the government will extend the last date by another month,” she added. In the Secunderabad division, only one application was received from the Ameerpet mandal and in the Hyderabad division, seven applications were received from the Nampally mandal, which is the least in the APL category.

The highest number of applications was received from Asifnagar (60) in Hyderabad division and Shaikpet (140) from Secunderabad division. Rs 14.42 crore was received towards partial payment of penal fee from the 16 mandals. The Collector said that if the people did not regularise illegal structures and encroachments in government lands before the deadline, the government would be forced to take action.

She appealed to the people to come forward to avail the facility by submitting the applications and the required penal fee, for which further concessions were offered, including the five installments facility. The applications for house regularisation can be sought from the offices of the Collector and MRO.
