Raid at Packaged Drinking Water Units in Hyderabad, BIS slams Illegal manufacturers

A team of officials from Bureau of Indian Standards, Hyderabad Branch Office conducted a raid at M/s Meridian Beverages & Food Company, Main Road, Hyderabad, Telangana State, a manufacturer of Packaged Drinking Water(PDW) with spurious BIS Standard Mark, ie. Mark, without having valid Licence. Such Products are used by common consumers. A very large quantity of Packaged Drinking Water packed in one litre pet bottles with brand name: “AQUA MOYA” without holding BIS licence, any testing, batch number, date of manufacturing and with spurious Mark and Fake Licence Number were seized during the raid.

Action is being initiated against the offender under the BIS Act, 1986. The offence is punishable by imprisonment up to one year or a fine up to Rs.50, 000=00 or both. The general public is requested to be aware of the offense that the manufacturing units do not have a valid BIS licence shall not use Bureau of Indian Standards Certification Mark and give information about any misuse of ISI Mark which comes to their notice.
