GOCL Death toll rises to 6

Taking the death toll to six on Monday, two more persons who sustained injuries in the Gulf Oil Corporation accident succumbed to death.

Sustaining 75 percent burns, the victims, Y. Muthyala Rao of Bolaram and M. Mahatma Goud of Tirumulgherry were undergoing treatment.

The explosion took place on February 23 while the workers were disposing the rejected detonators at an open place adjacent to a shed killing two people on the spot, injuring 13 more and leaving six more critically injured.

While the critically injured were shifted to Apollo DRDO Hospital, Krishna Swamy and Madhusudhan Reddy lost their battle as undergoing treatment. The doctors on Monday said that while seven of the injured victims are stable, the condition of two other victims, Surendar Reddy and Abdul Saleem remains to be critical.
