While the 2015 model year Duke 390 street-fighter will be available with the slipper clutch as a standard fitment, KTM does not want its existing customers to feel left out and are offering owners of the old Duke 390s the option to upgrade their bikes to the slipper clutch for improved performance and effective stopping. Dealers across the country will retrofit the slipper clutch at a price of around Rs. 3500/-, a lucrative deal for Duke 390 owners. Availability of parts for the same will only happen from next month onwards.

The KTM Duke 390 has been an extremely successful model for the company and the updates for 2015 have been made silently based on customer feedback. In addition to the slipper clutch, there are 19 other changes that have been made to the performance street-fighter including an updated front fender design, improved heat dissipation, new rear shock absorber dust cover, hand grips, collar sprocket, flap protector for the rear spring and new service interval of 7500 kms among others.

The slipper clutch and other updates come almost two years after the KTM Duke 390 was first launched in 2013. The company also plans to extend the same to the RC 390 as well but later in the timeline, since the RC is still under a novelty product in the Indian market. The Duke 390 is also now the most affordable bike in the country to get a slipper clutch as standard, a title once owned by the Kawasaki Ninja 300 which is almost twice the Duke’s price. Bajaj certainly knows how to keep its customers happy and is taking customer feedback very seriously, which is highly appreciated.
