Hyderabad: The Union government has agreed to provide financial assistance to the Andhra Pradesh government to take up extensive campaign on energy efficiency programmes launched by the State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM), which implements Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency (EC and EE) schemes in the State.

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Director General Ajay Mathur in his interaction with Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao asked the latter to submit a report with detailed proposals on communication strategy of the Energy Conservation Mission for the year 2015-16. The BEE official also requested Rao to prepare a separate report on LED revolution in AP, which would enable the Centre to showcase the same to other States in the country.

Mathur said the proposed financial assistance would go a long way in taking the campaign forward on energy efficiency programmes such as Demand-side Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP), energy efficient street lighting and Perform-Achieve-and-Trade (PAT) scheme for industries on a massive scale.

Thanking Mathur, the Chief Secretary said the government emphasised on the following flagship programmes - effective implementation of EC and EE programmes, encouraging and integration of renewable energy i.e. solar and wind, reduction of transmission and distribution losses to single digit and optimisation of thermal/hydel power generation.
