Crucial MAA elections today
The elections to MAA (Movie Artistes Association) will be held at the Film Chamber today. Senior actors Jayasudha and Rajendra Prasad are in the fray for the top post. The elections attained significance this time around as both the senior actors indulged in a war of words over the past two weeks leading to the elections.

Actor O Kalyan, who is a part of Rajendra Prasad’s panel, even sought intervention of the city civil court to stop the elections on the grounds that the election committee (of MAA) was biased towards Jayasudha’s panel. However, the court, on the condition that the result will be withheld until further instructions, gave its nod for the polls. Already actors like Lakshmi Manchu, Tanikella Bharani and Ali have been elected as vice- president, executive vice president and secretary respectively. The trio is a part of Jayasudha panel who are tipped to sweep the polls.
