Islamist rebels in Syria have taken over the north-western city of Idlib from the forces of government, said monitors.According to BBC, the groups Ahrar al-Sham, Jund al-Aqsa and Nusra Front had captured the city on Saturday, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

After the Islamic State captures the town of Raqqa, Idlib has been the only second provincial centre to fall into rebel hands.
More than 2,00,000 people have died and 11 million displaced in the Syrian civil war that began four years ago.
Syria has not yet confirmed the loss of the city but the UK-based observatory said that the militant groups seized the city after four days of intense fighting.
