Hyderabad: Unexpected showers drenched the city and several parts of North Telangana region bringing the much needed respite to the citizens from the sweltering heat. However, traffic was thrown out of gear following water logging at many places. Sudden rainfall in several parts of the city during the afternoon hours on Monday was witnessed. With the unexpected atmospheric changes, some parts of the city witnessed more than 10 mm of rainfall with blowing winds and thundering clouds.

Asifnagar mandal recorded 18.50 mm of rainfall, while Ameerpet, Nampally and Shaikpet recorded 6.25 mm, 5.25 mm and 5 mm respectively. The Metrological Centre Hyderabad has forecasted possibility of rain or thunderstorm on Tuesday. The climate would remain wet for another three days, with possibility of drizzle due to depression in Chhattisgarh.

According to the GHMC, as many as 17 mandals received rainfall from 18.50 mm to 0.25 mm between 8.30 am and 5 pm on Monday. Srinagar Colony 6.25 mm, Nampally 5.25 mm, Shaikpet 5mm, Moulali 3.75mm, Monda Market 2.25 mm, Trimulgherry 1.5 mm, Golconda and Chilakalguda 1 mm, West Maredpally, Malkajgiri and Uppal - Ghanpur 0.75 mm, Bandlaguda and Rajendranagar 0.5 mm, Malkapur, Fever Hospital and Sivaramapalle 0.25 mm.
