Advancing the exams after the High court upheld the state and dismissed the contention of the Telangana Private School Management, T. Chiranjeevulu, commissioner and director of school education says summer holidays will be from April 24 to June 1.
The Telangana Private School Managements’ Association had blamed the Telangana government for loss of working days and non completion of the syllabus due to additional holidays for Bonnalu, Bathukamma, Ramzan and Christmas. It challenged the advancement of exams and instead wanted it to be conducted between April 12 and 23.
Its President S. Sreenivas Reddy said: "Last year, several working days were lost due to the postponement of quarterly and half-yearly exams, besides the government declaring additional holidays. The syllabus was not completed in most of the schools. Therefore, we opposed advancement of annual exams.”
