Soon, all Indian airlines flights plan to offer Wi-Fi services to help you access the Internet, even while flying. On an initiative from a senior civil aviation ministry officials, the department of telecommunications (DoT) with the Wi-Fi proposal may soon install Wi-Fi on all flights.
The Indian airlines may use two types of technology - Air-to-ground technology and Satellite technology. The Air to-ground technology will allow the 3G network to connect from the ground till the plane. However, there’s a higher possibility that the Indian airlines may prefer using the Satellite technology, which will help the plane to continuously connect to networks via satellite.
Budget airlines like Vistara, AirAsia and SpiceJet have already shown interest in providing Wi-Fi. Till date, only Emirates, Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines offer Internet connectivity on International flights.
