Reiterating the stand taken during the 22nd party congress of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in Pondicherry last month on the Land acquisition Bill, Party general Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy had said that the party will intensify its fight against the Narendra Modi's government.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday Sudhakar Reddy described Mr. Modi's government as anti-minority, anti-people and anti-labour. "On 14 May there will be a massive farmers rally in New Delhi to protest against the pro rich provisions of the Land acquisition ordinance which the NDA government is keen on repromulgating," Sudhakar Reddy said.

Terming the Prime Minister's address to the nation in his “Mann Ki Baat” radio talk as utter lies, Sudhakar Reddy said that acquisition without the consent of farmers will be detrimental to the interests of the farmers of the nation. Answering a question on BJP’s record creating membership drive, Sudhakar Reddy said that the numbers are exaggerated and are not true.

Giving a call to party cadre all over the country to gear up for the 19th Anniversary to be celebrated on 26 December, he said that it is time to revitalize and rejuvenate the party which has received only 1 % of the share of votes in the recent general elections. “We need to raise funds to face the fascist regime of BJP lead NDA government which is playing with the fire of communal politics,” he said.

Party’s national secretariat member K Narayana has asked the governments of AP and Telangana to demand for their rightful share from the NDA government. “Both Naidu and KCR are reluctant to seek their due share. Special status is a promise made to AP and they should have it,” Narayana said. CPI is also demanding National status for Pranahita Chevella project for Telangana.
