The Hans India expose about the fudged figures in the draft budget of GHMC has proved to be correct. Hyderabad: The Hans India expose about the fudged figures in the draft budget of GHMC has proved to be correct. The Hans India had published that the Budget Estimates (BE) and the Revised Estimates (RE) were same and that the GHMC had followed the footsteps of the State Government. According to the budget 2014-15 prepared by the GHMC the budget estimates (BE) and the revised estimates (RE) were pegged at Rs 4,599. RE figures can never be exactly similar to BE in a particular year.
In reaction to the news report, while presenting the budget for Rs 5,500 crore for the financial year 2015-16, GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar argued that the capital expenditure done on infrastructure had increased significantly from Rs 1,028 crore to Rs 1,285 crore. He said that the revenue and receipts of GHMC for the year 2015-16 has been estimated at Rs 6,396 crore and after the mandatory revenue surplus of Rs 846 crore, the budget has been fixed at Rs 5,550 crore.
