A five-year-old boy was killed in a road accident when a crane fatally knocked him down in Hastinapuram under Vanasthalipuram police station limits on Friday morning. According to police, B Shiva, a student of Central Grammar School and a resident of Omkar Nagar, was returning home from the school around 8.30 am along with his mother, Tirupatamma, when the accident occurred.

“A speeding crane (AP 29 AF 3597), which was on its way from LB Nagar to Ibrahimpatnam, hit while they were crossing the road opposite White House on Nagarjuna Sagar Road, killing Shiva on the spot,” the cops said, adding that Tirupatamma, who received head injuries, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
