Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) on Friday arrested a 22-year-old man, a native of Gorakhpur of Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly duping people to the tune of Rs 40 lakh on the pretext of providing them loans on easy terms. Police recovered a bank cheque book and three mobile phones from his possession. “Vikas would call gullible persons by collecting data from bank.

He would then assure them that the loan would be sanctioned and there was no need of any movable or immovable surety. Only they need to follow the procedure that would be explained to them. Once the callers agree to his terms and conditions, the accused would ask them to deposit money towards registration and processing fees. Once the amount gets deposited, he would shift his base of operation and change the phone number. They have a syndicate operating from New Delhi,” DCP (CCS) C Ravi Varma said.
