Poetry recitation by Indo Anglian woman poets is held on the evening of Saturday at American Corner, St. Francis College, Begumpet, Hyderabad under the banner ‘Still They Rise: Readings by Women Poets’ by ‘Raed Leaf Foundation for Poetry & Allied Arts’ with the help of US Consulate General, Hyderabad.

Eight poetesses namely Vinita Agrawal, Nabina Das, Saima Afreen, Shobhana Kumar, Sharmila Ray, Dr. Srividya Sivakumar, Jennifer Robertson and Sridala Swami, who hail from different states, have participated in the programme. They have recited their poems and received overwhelming response from audience. They shared their experience of publishing their anthologies with the help of certain publishers who run with non-profit motive.

All the participants appreciated Linda who organized the programme with the help of American Corner. Concluding the meeting, Linda, the organizer of the programme, thanked all the poetesses who came to the meeting from different states in the country. She also thanked participants for making the event grand success.

To usher the spirit of young poets, she explained about poetry prizes given by various poetry foundation in India and abroad. Talking to media persons, she said that her organization has conducted the recitation programme as April is concisdered ‘Month of Poetry’ by literary world. She further said that the organization conducts such programmes twice or thrice a year, to represent emerging women’s voices in India.
