RTC unions put off strike to April 22
One more round of talks between the RTC employees’ unions and the management failed on Saturday.However, the unions are not ready to bugle the strike horn until they hold talks with the Labour Commissioner on Wednesday. Saturday talks with Executive Directors end in stalemate
Hyderabad: One more round of talks between the RTC employees’ unions and the management failed on Saturday.However, the unions are not ready to bugle the strike horn until they hold talks with the Labour Commissioner on Wednesday. The unions will announce their plan of action on that day, if the talks with the Labour Commissioner also fail. Coming out from the talks they held with the RTC Executive Directors at the Bus Bhavan, Union leaders told the media persons that they got no assurance from the APSRTC management on hiking of fitment to the employees.
It may be recalled that Employees’ Union (EU) and Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) have served notices to APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director N Sambasiva Rao that they would go on strike any day after April 16, if their demand of paying salaries equal to the government employees was not met. The only assurance they got from the Managing Director was that the management would take up the fitment issue with the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The MD and EDs told the employees that a whopping Rs 1,800 crore would be needed if the salaries were to be hiked on par with government employees and the RTC management would request the government to extend financial assistance. EU and TMU leaders including K Padmakar, E Ashwatthama Reddy, S Babu, V Tirupati, K Raji Reddy, M Thomas Reddy, P Damodar Rao and other union leaders took part in the meeting.
