11 major hospitals raided
Surprise checks were carried out in pharmacies at 11 major hospitals on Tuesday. The checks were carried out by Special Teams of Drug Control Administration, Telangana. Each team consisted of one assistant director and three drug inspectors.

The hospitals where these checks were conducted include Mediciti Hospital (Shamirpet), Continental Hospital (Gachibowli), Medwin Hospital (Nampally), Yashoda Hospital (Secunderabad), Kamineni Hospital (LB Nagar), Apollo Hospital (Jubilee Hills), Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (Secunderabad), Care Hospital (Banjara Hills), Global Hospital (Lakdikapul), Star Hospital (Banjara Hills) and Sunshine Hospital (Secunderabad).
The teams checked violations pertaining to overpricing, quality of medicines, presence of medicines beyond expiry date, cold storage maintenance, hygiene Issues, violations of Drugs Act 1940 and record maintenance. Major violations were reported in six hospitals and legal action has been initiated against them. In two hospitals, minor violations have been reported. In other two hospitals, unlicensed premises have been sealed and stock seized.
