Hyderabad: The MIM party chief Asaduddin Owaisi has been once again denied permission to hold public meeting in Bengaluru. Bengaluru city police served a notice on Asaduddin prohibiting his entry into police commissionerate limits of Bengaluru city for a period of five days from April 24 to 28. It may be recalled that MIM had rescheduled its public meeting at Chota Maidan at Shivaji Nagar in Bengaluru city to April 25, which was to be addressed by Asaduddin and other AIMIM leaders.

Earlier AIMIM had been granted permission to hold rally on February 21, in Bengaluru, but it was later canceled on February 19. Meantime, the Uttar Pradesh government has refused permission to MIM to hold rally which was rescheduled to April 26, in Allahabad despite High Court direction to District Magistrate. MIM had been granted permission for a rally in Allahabad on March 15 and Agra on March 29, but the permission was later cancelled with administration citing board examination as a reason.

He has been denied permission to hold rallies several times in recent past twice in Azamgarh and Allahabad in 2014 and once in Agra and Allahabad in 2015. Responding to the notice, the MIM chief said he would challenge the notice from Bengaluru police in the court of law, since it sought to interfere with the Right of Freedom of Expression under Article 25 of the Constitution. He said he would continue to strive for the rights of Minorities, weaker sections and backward classes.

He charged that the notice was convenient device to “Stop MIM from strengthening its base”. “I will continue to criticise the ruling party in Karnataka for their anti-people policies and if Allah the Almighty wants, people will accept my views or reject them and this is the beauty of democracy,” he said.
