Hyderabad: Sikkim Manipal University, Directorate of Distance Education (SMU-DE), has been recognized by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) as the ‘Best University in Distance/Open Learning’ at the 8th ASSOCHAM Education Summit & National Excellence Awards 2015. The award for excellence in education was presented by Ram Shankar Katheria, Minister of State for Human Resource Development at the ceremony held in New Delhi on Monday. On receiving the award, Prof Ramesh Murthy, expressed, “It is indeed a matter of immense satisfaction that the university’s efforts to reach out to its students and provide them quality education have been recognised for the second time in a row.”
