BJP MLA Raja booked for attacking constable
A case has been booked against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA T Raja Singh for allegedly attacking and threatening a police constable who tried to stop a loud DJ being played during a marriage function, which had caused disturbance to Balagalli residents on Friday. The MLA’s act was incidentally caught on camera.
Hyderabad: A case has been booked against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA T Raja Singh for allegedly attacking and threatening a police constable who tried to stop a loud DJ being played during a marriage function, which had caused disturbance to Balagalli residents on Friday. The MLA’s act was incidentally caught on camera. Mangalhat constable M B Chandrashekar visited a locality in Balagalli after receiving a call from residents of the area.
They had complained of disturbance during the night, due to high decibel music being played at a marriage function. Chandrashekar who was unaware of the presence of Goshamahal MLA tried to stop the DJ. During the melee, MLA appeared on the scene and allegedly manhandled the cop and threatened him of dire consequences, if he tried to stop the music. The MLA’s action was caught on a camera while he was attacking police constable.
An FIR has been registered against the Raja Singh under Mangalhat police station. However, defending himself, MLA alleged that the constable was drunk at the time of the incident. According to Raja Singh’s version, he tried to protect the guests at the marriage function from the drunken constable who started to beating up them up.
“I never hit the constable and whatever is written in the FIR is wrong”, he added. Responding to this MLA, Hyderabad DCP West Zone, A Venkateshwer Rao said, "We have sufficient evidence against the MLA, everything is recorded and on the basis of these evidence we will proceed legally. His allegations are baseless."
