Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday had expressed concern about the insurgency problem in the North Eastern region. Gogoi expressed concern about the year's long problem a day after militant attack on Assam Rifles troopers in Nagaland.


"It is a serious issue where as several militant groups in region have more organised and attacks on security forces have been risen. Union government has taken this issue in serious and take stern steps against the militants, " the Assam CM said during a press conference held in Guwahati on Monday.


"The recent attack on Assam Rifles troopers in Nagaland had proved that the region is not still free from insurgency problem," Gogoi said. Gogoi urged to the union government to take serious notes of the year's long problem. At least eight Assam Rifles jawans were killed, nine injured and four others missing in the attack by UNLFW, United platform of NSCN-Khaplang, ULFA (I), KLO and NDFB.
