Warangal: There is no need for Telangana to schedule power from Nellore-based Krishnapatnam Thermal Power Project to meet its needs, asserted Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao.

By March 2016, the state would become self-sufficient in power generation by setting up new power plants and pooling power from Central share. The power production would be augmented and the state would have surplus power, he said.

About 3000 MW of power would be added to the state’s current production and thus Telangana would have more than enough power at its disposal and to meet the needs of all types of consumers.

“We don’t’ have to ask for power from either Krishnapatnam or Hinduja National Power Corporation Limited” Prabhakar Rao said. This enables the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited (Transco) to supply power to farmers for irrigation purposes during day time.

Similarly, there won’t be any power cuts in Telangana, he pointed out. Prabhakar Rao was here on Sunday to inaugurate the newly-constructed Telangana Power Diploma Engineers’ Association building at Vidyutnagar in Hanamkonda.

Speaking on the occasion, he appealed to the agitating TS NPDCL outsourcing employees to withdraw their stir. He said the management was ready to sort out the problems through discussions.

He also asked the diploma engineers association leaders to take the initiative and hold talks with outsourcing employees who were seeking regularization of services and payment of salaries directly from the NPDCL instead of making payments through the agency that hired the workers.
