20 suspects held in search operation
Continuing with the crackdown against anti-social elements, the Hyderabad Police launched a ‘cordon and search’ operation in different areas, under Shahinayathgunj police limits and arrested at least 20 suspects from Jummerath Bazar in the wee hours, on Tuesday. Large quantities of liquor were seized which were later destroyed.
Hyderabad: Continuing with the crackdown against anti-social elements, the Hyderabad Police launched a ‘cordon and search’ operation in different areas, under Shahinayathgunj police limits and arrested at least 20 suspects from Jummerath Bazar in the wee hours, on Tuesday. Large quantities of liquor were seized which were later destroyed.
During the operation, a team headed by DCP (West) A Venkateshwera Rao, comprising of 400 police personnel, including ACPs, inspectors, SIs, ASIs, constables, home guards and other staff participated in the operation and took 20 suspects into custody for questioning.
Illegal gas cylinders, 20 two-wheelers and around 2,000 gudumba (ID liquor) packets were also seized during the operation. "The mission of this operation is to identify Known Depredators (KDs), Dossier Criminals (DCs), and house burglars,” the DCP said, adding that as many as six rowdy-sheeters were also arrested in the operation.
