Chennai: From political leaders to film stars all showered praises on Jayalalithaa after she took oath as Chief Minister at the Madras University Auditorium here.

Present in large numbers, the VIPs wished Jayalalithaa a long innings, expressing confidence that she will continue with the developmental works.

Senior Tamil Nadu BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Shipping, Pon Radhakrishnan said, "if Central and State governments work in tandem, Tamil Nadu can emerge as a frontline State and for (doing) that honourable Amma assuming office will be helpful."

Superstar Rajinikanth, attired in white, was seen clapping as Jayalalithaa took oath. He said he was very happy that Jayalalithaa was back as Chief Minister.

Actor Prabu expressed confidence that the government under Jayalalithaa will deliver "more good things" to the people of the state.

Veteran actress MN Rajam said she was 'proud' to see a woman from the entertainment industry scale great heights in politics and greeted Jayalalithaa on the occasion.

Actor and chief of All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi, Sarathkumar said: "I had already said that Amma will make a comeback and assume the office after overcoming the obstacles, I am very happy."

"Jayalalithaa had made Tamil Nadu a model State for the rest of India, our best wishes for her welfare schemes to guide the rest of India and the world," chief of Indiya Kudiyarasu Katchi and an ally of AIADMK, C K Tamilarasu said.
