Raping, killing own daughter shocking

Vikarabad: Addl SP Chandana Deepthi has lamented that the incident of a father raping and killing his own daughter was really disheartening. Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Deepthi, expressing shock over the incident, stated that nobody expected that a father would commit such a heinous crime.

“It is an inhuman action and I have no words to speak on it,” the Addl SP bemoaned. She said that Megavath Kamal behaved like an animal and forgot that he was a human being. She suggested that women should not believe men 100 per cent at any cost. The women and girls should always be careful and the girls needed to learn self-protection techniques, she said and opined that there was a need for change in the society.

The Addl SP said that she was proud that case was cracked within 24 hours. She said that Megavath Kamal tried to mislead the police in the case but his attitude was suspicious from the beginning. The Addl SP said that Kamal told lies during interrogation and the police cracked the case while examining the CCTV footage at Vikarabad Railway Station.

The accused admitted that he committed the heinous crime in an inebriated condition. He killed his daughter thinking that he would be caught if she revealed about the incident to his wife and to the people of the village. “She pleaded not to kill her,” he said.

Reacting over the incident, Megavath Kamal’s relatives, however, alleged that the police made him to confess to the crime by thoroughly beating him. It is learnt that his wife was not in a position to speak on the incident.
