Land disputes and old faction feuds led to the murder of YSR Congress Party Kurnool district SC Cell president Asadi Vasanth Rao on May 15, Mahabubnagar Additional Superintendent of Police Malla Reddy said here on Sunday.Speaking to the media, after producing seven killers, the ASP stated that the incident was well planned after Rao left Sunnipenta for Hyderabad by car. The assailants, he said, had stopped the car by crashing their vehicle into it.

Mahabubnagar: Land disputes and old faction feuds led to the murder of YSR Congress Party Kurnool district SC Cell president Asadi Vasanth Rao on May 15, Mahabubnagar Additional Superintendent of Police Malla Reddy said here on Sunday.Speaking to the media, after producing seven killers, the ASP stated that the incident was well planned after Rao left Sunnipenta for Hyderabad by car. The assailants, he said, had stopped the car by crashing their vehicle into it.


He was dragged out and attacked with hunting sickles, resulting in spot death. The attackers managed to escape. Malla Reddy said that following complaint lodged by Rao’s widow Sailaja, a case was registered and investigation taken up by ASP Govardhan Reddy and CI Venkateswarlu. The killers were arrested along with three pistols, a ‘tapancha’ and other weapons. They would be sent for remand.
