The basketball players at the YMCA come to Garden restaurant in the evening. Ramesh Nair, a budding player, says, “We got so hooked to the tea that the news that we can still have our favourite Irani chai comes as a relief.”

A number of retired employees from the Railways make it a point to meet at the restaurant. David, a regular, says, “I have been coming to Garden for more than 30 years. First it was the bentwood chairs and the marble top tables that went and now the restaurant. We will miss Garden.”
