Why on earth would you customise your bike? The answer is: Normal is boring! A custom paint job is like getting a tattoo done, which has some meaning or has an emotional component. “Why on earth would you customise your bike? The answer is: Normal is boring! A custom paint job is like getting a tattoo done, which has some meaning or has an emotional component. Above all, it has a story to tell. A good painting speaks volumes. We do that part of storytelling and strictly do not compromise on quality,” shares 22-year-old Mohit Chawda, who gave a facelift to an Avenger, the metamorphosed result is called the ‘Shadow’.

Mohit ChawdaPassion ticked him at a young age, and Mohit has always been a petrol head. “I spent my childhood working and learning in a garage, and this instigated my passion towards bikes.” "Most of the students after graduation go and search for jobs but I chose the rough part for that was my dream," he says. With money earned from working at events added with some of his savings from earlier, he managed to buy the Avenger and modified it.

This was his very first steps towards what was soon to become a marveled and greatly appreciated talent. Mohit is now a custom bike builder who runs the Deccan Custom motorcycle, which recently rolled out her most defined project- #RUDRA. Classily derived from the word 'rudraksh', the #RUDRA is a refreshing new custom built version of the Bullet 500cc Classic, and it is surely a reflection of the amount of hard-work put into it.

The concept and ideas are all his own. He didn't have a garage to himself so he had to use other garages to fabricate and convert his fantasy into a reality. Staying in theme with the name, the colour used to accentuate the bike was 'Nilkanth Blue'. Even the key to the ignition is creatively shaped to replicate the trisul- which is Lord Shiva's Trident. Another eye-catcher is that when the bike roars to life, the pleasing mudguard lights up to read '#RUDRA'.

All the parts of the bike excluding the engine had been changed and the best part of it is that it is entirely handcrafted. Mohit says that surely the beauty of constructing it while being mostly mechanical was more of an art. Returning home, tired and dirty after working on his bikes was never a problem because at the end of the day when his head hit the pillow, he could always smile knowing that he was working for his passion.

He believes that life is about learning and then later, creating. Mohit also adds that one should never go with the crowd and that they should stand up and speak out for themselves. He later showed his life as an example and hoped that no one ever looks back, they should always grow a relationship with their passion (or in his case, his bikes) like they were bonding with their own child.

Bike are a reflection of rider, and going along with that ideal Mohit loves exploring new places, the inspiration for his riding is based on the philosophy which he follows that was once said by his father- Sair Kar Duniya Ki Gafil Zindagani Kaha, Zindagani Gair Rahi Toh Fir Ye Naujawani Kaha, Ru-Baru Ho Haqeeqat –E-Jaha Se Tu, Kitabon mein Milegi Haqeeqat Bayani Kaha (Go out and explore the world like a carefree wanderer, you have no clue about your stay here, even though you may stay but then you won’t be this young again, Experience the truth of the places by actually being there, you will never find the realities in the book.)
