Hyderabad: Reconstitution of APSRTC Board of Directors is unlikely to be done before mid June, according to official sources. Telangana has been complaining that there were only two out of 15 members on the board of directors from the new State and this was leading to problems in sharing of assets while dividing the corporation.

The Centre is likely to nominate directors as per the ratio of population of the two States, according to APSRTC Executive Director and Secretary Mukkaala Ravinder. The corporation will be divided in the ratio of 52:48 between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The same ratio might be followed in appointing the new directors while reconstituting the board, a top official of the corporation said.

While Telangana employees want the bifurcation to be confined to staff division, AP employees want the bifurcation to be complete in all respects, including division of assets. Telangana employees contend that any progress on the division of assets will be possible only if the Sheila Bhide Committee gives its report on division of assets.

However, speaking to The Hans India, APSRTC Employees’ Union general secretary K Padmakar Rao said, “We don’t believe that the Bhide Committee can finish its work any sooner.
