Passing a resolution on the second day of the annual conclave – Mahanadu at Gandipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Thursday demanded the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna to be conferred to its founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao.

Passing a resolution on the second day of the annual conclave – Mahanadu at Gandipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Thursday demanded the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna to be conferred to its founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao.


The TDP President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that for NTR who served the people by launching many innovative schemes and created history in Indian politics deserved the award.


Moving the resolution on the birth anniversary of the late leader, Chandrababu announced revival of sari-dhoti scheme that was launched by NTR for the poor and allocated Rs.400 crore for the scheme.


Earlier on the eve of NTR Jayanthi, Naidu along with his wife Bhuvaneswari, son Lokesh visited NTR Ghat to pay tributes to the late leader. NTR's sons Harikrishna and Balakrishna, grandson Junior NTR, daughter D. Purandeswari also paid tributes to the legendary actor.
