The 5-week long initiative to focus on product engineering

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (Hysea) is organising a five-week long product engineering and entrepreneurship workshop. The objective of the workshop which has begun on Thursday is to discover, nurture and refine tech product ideas and tech entrepreneurs from engineering students in a guided structured summer programme that will end with a demo prototype of the idea.

It will also help create excitement around ideas, products and product entrepreneurship. Shailaja Ramaiyer, Vice-Chancellor, JNTU Hyderabad, launched the workshop in the presence of Ramesh Loganathan, President, Hysea, and MD, Progress Software.

“This will soon be part of the JNTU curriculum as a summer course to be continued as the final year project to help build appreciation and practical understanding of product engineering and with a secondary objective of seeding new start-ups through products proposed and prototyped in the workshop,” the software industry body said in a release.

Under this initiative, over 230 students from 26 colleges will be building 78 IoT products for Smart City concepts. “These 26 colleges were shortlisted from among several that applied. Each college has nominated two young faculty members and nine students who will work in teams of three,” he added.
