Recognising the fact that the role of media in raising social issues are ever growing in development context in India; Humara Bachpan Campaign (HBC) and Divya Disha’s BalaRaksha project organised a media sensitisation event at the Press Club in Somajiguda on Saturday.


The event involved discussion and brainstorming on the emerging role of media in highlighting issues related to the imperative need for the inclusion of young children in urban governance. The major goal was to sensitise the media about the need to make child-friendly infrastructure and the role of media in highlighting such issues.


It had session where eminent journalists, independent journalists, filmmakers stressed on the growing need to speak on such issues. The workshop also held discussions about how to engage with children to make Smart Cities ‘Child-Friendly’.


Child journalists from the slums also had a session where they spoke about children advocating for their right to live in a clean and healthy environment while making demands and sharing their expectations from the media to support them in this endeavour.
