Hyderabad: An attempt to rob a finance company in a filmy-style at Hydernagar, under KPHB police station, was foiled by timely dare act of the employees on Friday afternoon. According to sources from the Muthoottu Mini Financiers Private Limited, four miscreants armed with guns and knives barged into the their office premises on Friday at around 1.30 pm and assaulted the staffers, including the manager in an attempt to rob the company.

However, their plot slipped out of their hands when the manager and others screamed for help. Within no time, a few locals and customers who were around came rushing to help them.Sensing trouble, the gang managed to flee. The staffers immediately alerted the police.

“Posing as customers, they enquired about the procedure to avail loan. While two of them were near the counter talking to our lady staffer, two others who got the signal from inside, stormed into the office, brandishing knives and guns and started attacking the manager and demanded to open the cashier room ,” KPHB inspector V Sreekanth Goud said, adding that they threatened the staff of dire consequences and destroyed the CCTV camera before escaping, thus, erasing clues to nab them.

However, senior police officers suspect a link between the gold heist that took place at Muthoot Mini Finance at Ramchandrapuram in Medak district in February. According to police, the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) terrorists were involved in Medak incident and were killed in Nalgonda in April.

Friday’s attempt is similar in nature. “The movement of SIMI activists around Hyderabad and their previous history have given rise to this suspicion, though, we are not able to draw a conclusion,” said the cops. Additional DCP, M Srinivas Rao and ACP (Kukatpally) N Sanjeev Rao visited the spot and reviewed the security. A sniffer dog was pressed into service to detect the path of the culprits.
