Hyderabad: Justice A Ramalingeshwar Rao of the High court at Hyderabad on Wednesday dismissed a writ plea questioning the appointment of the Muttawalli to the Anjuman E Muslimeen at Kacheguda Wakf on the ground that he was a foreigner.

The writ petitioner Syed Saifuddin Quadri questioned the appointment of Syed Badruddin Quadri to the famous Wakf at Kacheeguda on the ground that under the amended Wakf Act, a person, who is not an Indian national, cannot hold the office of a Mutawalli.

Senior counsel appearing the appointed Mutawali pointed out that as on the date of his appointment there was no such disqualification and the amendment did not have a retrospective effect. The judge agreed with the plea and dismissed the writ plea.
