Hyderabad: The Telangana University Teachers here on Friday have threatened to go on mass hunger strike if the government fails to address their grievances. The university teachers lamented that due to lack regular Vice-Chancellors in all the universities, academics and administration has been severely hit. Presently, all the state universities are functioning without regular Vice-Chancellors.



“The government has made bureaucrats as the in-charge vice-chancellors for the universities. Due to this many policy decision are pending thereby causing disruption to administration,” said Prof Battu Satynarayana, Chairman, and Telangana State Federation of University Teachers’ Association (TSFUTA).



Satyanarayana further said all the universities were due for accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council. “If universities fail to get NAAC accreditation, financial assistance from the UGC and other Central funding agencies may be discontinued,” he added. TSFUTA demanded that the government immediately appoint regular vice-chancellors and also constitute executive councils in all the universities in the State.
