Hyderabad: The Narayanguda Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a fake vaccination certificate racket with the arrest of three persons at YMCA Crossroads. Police seized a large number of fake stamps, certificates and material required for the preparation of forged documents and a car from their possession.

The accused have been identified as D Srinivas, 35, a resident of Mansoorabad, LB Nagar, S Prakash, rubber stamp maker of Chikkadpally and P Anand, a printing press owner of Barkathpura. Based on a complaint lodged by Ch Lavanya, medical officer of Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM), Narayanaguda, on July 22, police registered a case under Section 420, 468 and 471 of the IPC and took up investigation.

“In her complaint, she mentioned that a fake vaccination certificate was noticed by her that was issued to one K Rajesh with her forged signature and fake stamps,” the cops said. During investigation, it was revealed that Srinivas, a former outsourcing employee of IPM observed the lacunae in the system and decided to supply fake international vaccination certificates to students and persons going abroad.

“He approached Prakash and Anand whom he had previous acquaintances and started issuing the fake certificates to gullible customers by charging Rs 2,000 for each certificate. During the last four years, he had issued as many as 400 fake certificates,” DCP (Central) VB Kamalasan Reddy said.

“They also printed WHO (World Health Organization) logo and its name on 15 booklets. Thus, the accused has been committing offence which may result in the spread of contagious and dangerous diseases in other countries like USA, UAE, South Africa etc., and thereby jeopardising the public health and public safety in friendly nations,” the DCP added.
