Hyderabad: In separate incidents, the Uppal police busted three gangs engaged in bike thefts in the city and recovered as many as 14 bikes worth Rs 5.15 lakh from their possession. Three persons were arrested. In the first case, the crime sleuths on Thursday intercepted Vallapu Ashok (32) who is a resident of Ramanthapur in Uppal during routine vehicle check near Uppal bus stop.


“He failed to produce supporting documents of the vehicle and tried to escape. He was then nabbed and brought to the police station. On interrogation, he confessed to have committed similar offences in the past,” the cops said adding that five bikes were recovered from him.


In the second case, crime team nabbed Manthipuram Ramulu (40) of Ramanthapur when he failed to produce the original documents of the vehicle. Five bikes were recovered from him following his confession.Similarly, in the third case, Sai Krishna (19) of OU campus was arrested on Friday and four bikes were recovered from his possession. “The accused were being produced before the court,” Malkajgiri DCP Rama Rajeshwari said.
