Women coders explore indigenous tech solutions
The first round of the women-only hackathon ‘Tech for Good 2015’ was held on Saturday. The event was attended by 150 developers including women students and industry professionals from computing and technology backgrounds. Expressing his thoughts on the event, Vikram Manocha, HR director, Microsoft India R&D Pvt Ltd, said, “Microsoft is committed to promoting gender diversity and inclusion in the field of engineering.

The first round of the women-only hackathon ‘Tech for Good 2015’ was held on Saturday. The event was attended by 150 developers including women students and industry professionals from computing and technology backgrounds. Our organisation has been instrumental in partnering and encouraging such initiatives in the best way possible. Our association with Anita Borg Institute (ABI) for the hackathon and the forthcoming Grace Hopper Celebration India conference in December is a testimony to our efforts in the same direction.”

The Hackathon is being organised for the advancement of women in computer science and engineering and to create a social impact. Finals will be held in Bangalore at Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India (GHCI) in December this year.
